Create This Look – Black & Turquoise Medium Floral Chiffon
Greetings! This week I was inspired by the “Progressive Frock Dress” from ModCloth. Since school has been back in session for a few weeks now, I thought that this super fun strappy sundress, would be the perfect look to inspire you to create a look that can work for all 4 seasons. (ModCloth is almost out of this particular dress, so the link might not work. Sorry!)
Some of you might ask, how can this dress work for every season? Well… For Spring: Pair this dress with a lightweight shrug or cardigan, flats, & maybe leggings. Summer: you can wear this dress & some strappy sandals or flats. Fall: This dress would look really cute if worn with a chunky cardigan, leggings & boots. Winter: Just add a scarf, hat, & coat. At least that is how I would wear this dress throughout the year. How would you style this dress? Please post pics of your self wearing this dress, styled for different seasons.
I was not able to find a pattern that matched our inspiration look exactly, so you might have to do some pretty simple pattern adjusting. Most of the patterns out there have fitted bodices and this dress does not. The pattern is from the New Look Collection by Simplicity 6373. In order to replicate the dress, I would use View D, but I would shorten the waist of the bodice, & lengthen the skirt. It should be a pretty simple adjustment.
The fabric I chose for this look is a really pretty polyester floral chiffon. I just love the way the turquoise, pink, & green colors pop off of the black background.
Since we are using such a lightweight fabric for this dress, I recommend using one of our Black Poly/Cottons, Rayons, or Polyester Crepe De Chines.
