Create This Look – Printed Damask Cotton Velvet – Black
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope 2016 is off to a great start for you. This week I have chosen the “Teamwork Makes The Gleam Work Dress” from ModCloth. I know the next holiday isn’t until February, but why not start planning your Valentines Day outfit early?!
This look requires two different fabrics. One for the skirt & one for the bodice. I was really excited when I saw this look. I knew exactly which fabric I would use to create it. The fabric I chose for the skirt is our awesome Printed Damask Cotton Velvet in black. The damask design is screen printed with metallic gold ink over a beautiful black cotton velvet.
The fabric I chose for the bodice is a solid black cotton stretch poplin.
The pattern I chose for this dress is S1353 by Simplicity. I recommend using View A. The pattern even includes POCKETS! I think that should be standard on all patterns… all clothing really!

What’s New:
I’ve decided to add some new Special Occasion fabric to our online inventory! We already have quite a bit of special occasion fabrics available online but, I have been wanting to include these awesome jumbo floral rosettes for quite a while & finally got a chance.
This polyester tulle-like mesh fabric features large taffeta rosettes sewn overall. It comes in a bunch of colors & is perfect for so many applications.
My main motivation for wanting to include this fabric is because it makes amazing backdrops for photography & events, but I really haven’t seen it anywhere else. Its also perfect for making decorative pillows & many other home decor projects.
I can also imagine creating some awesome dresses/skirts for little (or “big”) girls out of this fabric. The only limit is your imagination. Check out all of the amazing colors as well as our other special occasion collection.
