Create This Look – Turquoise Tribal Floral Chiffon
This Week’s Create This Look
This Weeks Look is got to be my favorite so far. It is inspired by “Frisson & Sand” Dress fromModCloth. It uses 3 different fabrics: a floral chiffon for the skirt, a knit cotton/poly lace for the bodice, & a lightweight polyester to line both the bodice & skirt.
It took a lot longer to put this look together since I had to make sure we still had all 3 of the fabrics used to create it. I also changed my mind about three different times. We just have so many options its hard to decide which combination to use.
I settled on the lace first. It is very boho, don’t you think? It is a knit cotton/poly blend lace, with an oval medallion lace pattern.
The lining on the inspiration dress is the same color as the lace, but I decided it would be more interesting to go with mint. The mint color will make the lace pop & it also complements the colors in the chiffon. I chose to use a lightweight polyester for the lining because it hangs better. It feels similar to chiffon, but its more opaque. I recommend using our Mint Poly/Cotton, as well.

The The Print on the skirt was the most difficult to settle on. I wanted to get as close to the inspiration dress as I could, but surprisingly we don’t have many tropical prints….. It might be because we are located in the middle of California’s Central Valley….. ;p
I would describe this print as a tribal tropical/hawaiian floral. It has a very primitive distressed style to the leaves & flowers.
I could imagine this dress being worn with sandals to the beach, or be dressed up with heels for a wedding. It could also be a cute work outfit if paired with a cardigan & flats. This style dress is super flattering on almost every body type. The sweetheart neckline combined with the a-line mini skirt length skirt is just so cute & if you don’t like the strapless look, you could easily add straps.
