DIY Rey & Jedi Costumes | Halloween 2017
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to sew for. There is whimsy, imagination and the joy of pretending to be your favorite characters from the big screen. We don’t do Star Wars every year, but it does seam to weave it’s way in to our Halloween pretty frequently! TheFabricMarket.com is THE BEST place to get fabrics for costumes because the prices are so affordable!
My daughter decided soon after the movie release that she wanted to be Rey. We used Read More...
Sewing Activewear | Ballet & Dance
If you live locally, you know that F&M fabrics has the best selection and pricing on dance fabrics in town! They have some great stuff online too, which you can see here.
Last summer, my daughter and I started taking a combo dance class and an adult beginner ballet class, respectively. After a few months of loving it, I thought it’d be fun to make some dance wear for us. Fortunately, I walked into the store as the black spandex was being Read More...
Introducing, Sir Knight!
Did you make any Halloween (or other) costumes this year with fabrics from TheFabricMarket.com or F&M Fabrics, locally? We’d love to see them on our facebook page. Some have already shared their creations so jump on in and show us what you’ve come up with!
This year, my son asked to be a knight. In a happy coincidence, his schooling the month leading up to Halloween covered knights and the middle ages from a variety of sources so we had Read More...
Glitter Chiffon Maxi Dress
Hi this is Jaime again from MadeByJaime. A few weeks back, Caitlin posted this Glitter Chiffon as a part of the weekly Create This Look post, and I couldn’t get it out of my mind!
I was gearing up to be a part of a Blog Tour this week as a part of a PDF Pattern Designer’s One Year Anniversary. Kimberly Payne of Straight Stitch Designs had asked us to participate by taking one of her patterns and “hacking it.” We were Read More...
Cowgirl Costume
Halloween is two months away so now is a great time to plan your costume sewing! For a little inspiration today, I’m sharing a Cowgirl costume I made earlier this year.
For the shirt, I used the Granville shirt pattern by Sewaholic. It comes in PDF format or in print. You could use any button-up shirt pattern or embellish an existing button-up shirt. I just cut the shirt without the front pockets and then placed tissue paper over the pattern to trace the upper front Read More...
Double Tier Women’s Tank Top
If you’re still facing the heat in your area, you might want to pick up the Tank, Double Tier Tank and Crop Top Pattern by Seamingly Smitten. This is a printable PDF pattern so if you’ve never worked with PDF patterns before, this post has a great explanation for how they work!
The subtitle at the top of the Tank, Double Tier Tank and Crop Pattern by Seamingly Smitten says, “sewing patterns for beginners”. Though this is a knit-only pattern, there is Read More...
Star Wars Day – May the Fourth
For all the Star Wars fans out there, it’s Star Wars day! May the Fourth be with you.
A lot of the customers we see locally at F&M Fabrics are making costumes, whether for ballet, their highschool opera, the melodrama or for Halloween. The prices at TheFabricMarket.com are so good, it makes a great source for all your costuming needs!
I married into a Star Wars Family. I did not grow up watching the movies, but I’ve enjoyed getting to know them and Read More...
Easter Bunny Dress
Last year I got a bunny print fat quarter bundle through Instagram and just knew it would be an Easter dress for this year. Knowing I had a variety of prints, I chose the Bloomshine Maxi Pattern by Ping Fig Desgins. A few fat quarters, however, would not be near enough to make a maxi dress so I headed to TheFabricMarket to pick up some cotton prints to supplement.
The top tier of the dress is a cream colored solid and Read More...
